Asian Studies at the University of Michigan: A Brief History

As the University of Michigan celebrates its bicentennial, it is important to consider the important place of Asian Studies in its history. In his lecture, Donald Lopez will consider Asian Studies not only as a field of scholarly pursuit, but in the sense of people from Asia and of Asian heritage studying and teaching at the University.

UMMA is home to more than 150 years of unique displays of artistic expression. The Alumni Art exhibit features pieces from the private collections of many U-M alumni and donors, including Barbour Scholars.
